IOWA GREAT LAKES
SUMMER CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL
ALL ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
MISSION
The Wild Prairie Winds, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is dedicated to fostering access to chamber music and music education within small, rural communities. Our Summer Chamber Music Festival aims to provide engaging classical music performances and outreach opportunities with accessible repertoire and venues in the Iowa Great Lakes Region.
PURPOSE
The heart of our festival is bringing world-class classical musicians to our community each summer, enriching our lives with their exceptional talents. The festival will run from Wednesday to Sunday, offering afternoon and evening concerts. Afternoon performances will be held in locations that cater to children and those with limited transportation, ensuring that everyone can experience the magic of live chamber music. Our evening concerts will provide a more formal setting, often held outdoors or in performing arts theaters, art galleries, and other night-life spaces.
FUTURE PLANS
Our vision for the next five years includes expanding the festival to incorporate a high-school level chamber music camp, the first of its kind in Iowa. This camp will offer students the opportunity to receive coaching, private lessons, and even perform alongside accomplished musicians during the festival. With your support, we aim to make this vision a reality.
